Start up problem

Vaio SVE1713C,won't start unless power cable is attached, shuts down after a couple of minutes when power cable is disconnected, battery is fully charged.

Using Windows 8, laptop is only three weeks old therefore battery should be OK

Thanks for any tips

Hi jo1977 and welcome.

It could be a faulty battery or a bad contact in the battery circuit. You could try removing the battery, checking the contacts are clean and replacing it and see if it charges and works normally.

If not you will need to contact Vaio Support for a replacement under warranty. To contact Vaio Support go here and click on 'Vaio and Computing'. You will need to enter your Vaio's Serial Number to obtain the contact details.

Thanks for the welcome Blencogo, battery does charge connection must be OK,although full charge shows it appears there's not enough power to run the laptop.

Looks like it's in sleep/hibernate mode, waiting reply from Sony.
