Battery for 1 hour?!

Of course I'm not the first with this question, but unfortunaqtely club vaio isn't that accesible that I can find an answer. So:

I have a (very nice) VGN-A197XP. But the battery is just sufficient for 1 (!) hour and about 10 minutes. Doesn't Sony have better batteries?

Sounds like a bad battery, how old is it?
It has to be within 90 days to get a free replacement.

But what are you doing while running on batteries? If you are playing 3D games, listening to audio CDs, watching DVD movies, or performing processor intensive tasks your battery will not last long. You will only achieve 3+ hours if you have Wireless Lan off, are not using the CD drive, not playing music, and are not running processor intensive tasks

are you running at maximum brightness and performing processor and hard disc-intensive tasks? If not then it seems you have a faulty battery.

You can usually get 3 hours of browsing using wireless LAN on the A-series with the brightness on lowest.
