415s doesn't recognise some dvd's.....

dvd drive doesn't recognise some dvd's.... it recognises almost all cd's and original dvd's but it doesn't recognise my back up dvd's even though it was this machine that created them.... it used to work absolutely fine until one day the icon went missing from the my computer screen... everything was saying that there was no recorder... and the device manager was showing an excamation mark...and somewhere it was saying that the fault was a code 39...... i have since re formatted the hard drive and got the icon back on the my computer screen but it doesn't recognise the recovery disk or some dvd's as afore mentioned...... it's about to go out of the window...... please help!!!!

Did you install Nero by any chance?

actually i did for a little while but never used it so uninstalled it... was nero burning suite i think...sounds like you could be a life saver dave.....
