Sony KD-55XG7003 Constant Crashing

Regardless of firmware updates the smart functionality is constantly shutting the tv down and occasionally I have to disconnect it from the mains because it wont switch back on or turn off. Also the mirroring functionality is very ropey you need to give it a few tries before it will work. This is ultimately a design flaw because I bought it as a smart TV and the smart tv functions occasionally work. Flicking through Netflix is like holding your breath; will it freeze wont it. I have never known a TV to be so unreliable in terms of functionality. Also not all the sound settings are available you got to trick it into doing what you want it to do. I.e. Equaliser will not turn on unless you use auto volume and some sound settings don't work unless you voice zoom or volume compensation. The Sound restorer seems to be always set to off, why don't you allow people to choose their own settings its almost like its there for show, like carrot dangling. Very very disappointed its really put me off buying and further Sony products. I have already written to Sony with no response. Current firmware v8.9

I hope it works out for you,

...but I'm guessing your router always was fine and the Kursed Dog-55 will be just as useless after Sony have made you throw more money at it.

Hi David926,  when I participate here I'm focused on helping others to resolve the issue, as we all do, when I read your first post it wasn't clear what you have tried. Anyway, the usual steps for the random reboot that actually helped others are:

- Update firmware

- Disabling the interactive application (If you have it)

- Turning off [Update Guide in standby] setting.

- Use Wifi instead of LAN

-Finally,  a factory reset, if you tried all of these steps already that might be an indicator to a hardware fault, did you contact Sony at any point?

So update

Tried a different router one with dlna capability annnnnd still random as ever, still the same problems and still the same old pretty paper weight. I have tried all suggested so many SOOOOO MANY TIMES..

I'm fairly sure under trading standards selling a product that is flawed by design is a no no and that's what indeed Sony have done. If Sony actually responded to their customers when they raise a complaint perhaps the customers wouldn't bark so much.

This week I've had to unplug it from the wall and back in because it refused to respond to anything and this was on Freeview..it's unpredictable..

The fact you got to do all those things and in repititon  is not of satisfactory quality i am afraid.

An update was released today for your TV, give it a shot, hopefully it'll fix all of these random issues.

Are there any other updates because tbh I've just put up with it mostly never working as it should. Any particular reason why sony chose to make the software so unreliable surely sony would be a bit embarrassed allowing such poor quality control? ? Also who is testing the software? because none of the updates really solve much they just make it work a little longer without it freezing and restarting.
