Sony Bravia KDL 40EX503 PC Input Problems

Hi

I have a Sony Bravia KDL 40EX503 Tv and I have just tried to plug a PC cable into the PC input and the other end directly into my laptop and it says no signal.  I have tried everything but cant get it to work.

Can someone please help me.

what if cant click on pc beacause it appears grey, even after plugged in cable, and tried cable on old flatscreen and works to transfer pc to tv there!??
