Sony Bravia AC Power Adaptor Longer Lead?

Hi there,

I have a  Sony KDL-42W705B TV.

Is it possible to get a longer lead for the power adaptor that goes between the brick and the TV?

I want to have the TV up on a stand but the length of cord between the TV and the power brick is too short.

Can it be extended or is there an AC adapter with a longer lead?

Thanks.

Hi @Bluetoot

I guess you're talking about extending the DC end of the bargain? I've never seen a replacement cable and a quick search proved fruitless.

You can get EIAJ connector extension cables, although I've never used one. They're cheap enough to get a good-quality one and give it a go. Obviously take care to get one with the the female and male barrel size the same.

Hope that makes sense? If you have space, the other way is of course to bundle up the brick and run an AC extension instead.

Cheers

MIck

Thanks!

Do you think something like this would do it?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/DC-Extension-Cable-2-1-12V/dp/B003AN8X0I

I might just do as you say and get a longer "figure of 8" cable and stick the brick to the back of the TV.

The brick shouldn't cause any interference being so close to the TV should it?

Thanks @Mick_D

Hi Bluetoot,

I'll see if i can track down an answer. Maybe someone else in the Community has an idea in the meantime.

Thanks,

Hi,

Just wanted to ask what did you end up using to extend the power cord?

I've just bought a Sony Bravia and the 'brick' end of the power cable is so short that it's almost useless. I tried ringing Sony customer service and, although they are excrucaitingly polite, they have no answers to solve this issue.

I've also scoured the internet and there is nothing at all. I did actually buy a cable that appeared right but when I received it, it was slightly too small and there was no centre pin. The company was 'Kenable' so don't bother with them.Like one of the previous posts hinted at, I have ended up using a longer 'figure of eight' mains end cable instead and fixing the brick to the rear of the TV. Fortunately, I'm using a beautiful Vogels' articulated wall mounting bracket with lots of places I can fix the brick.

It's a solution of sorts though not ideal.

Sony need to get their design team to vastly improve this aspect of the product because it's a real pain.

Hi James,

Usually, there are no Sony extended power cords. I'd recommend purchasing an AC extension cable, you can find that online or at your nearest e-tailer. This should open up more space for the power adaptor to be placed in different locations.
