Looking to buy A95K 55". Upgrading from LG C1.

Hello.

I'm looking to upgrade my LG C1 48" OLED TV which I use primarily as my PC monitor so I only require one HDMI 2.1 port.

I have a few questions as I've never owned a Sony TV before and have yet to see QD-OLED in person. I love my LG but parents needed a new TV and I thought an upgrade to the A95K would be my best bet with the new technology and Sony processing.

Originally, I wanted to buy the Samsung S95B but after looking at more reviews and recent firmware updates with lack of DV and inaccurate colours decided against it.

Is the motion as good as or better than the C1? I've heard that the motion processing on the A95K is good but others say it isn't as smooth as LG so I'm conflicted on what and who to trust.

Is QD-OLED a big enough jump in brightest and 'pop' over an LG WOLED panel to justify the cost?

I'm aware that the A95K lacks a game bar like LG and Samsung but I rarely used this feature, G-Sync also tended to raise blacks so I turned that off so I don't think I'll be missing out on much.

Finally, is the ABSL as aggressive as it is on the C1 as this is another big reason why I thought to upgrade as it is constantly dimming wether it be from desktop use or during dark scenes in movies.

Thank you in advance.

Hi @Valkyranna

I own an A95K. Have you got any factual questions not in the specifications. I have never owned a LG TV so I cannot offer any comparisons or opinions. What is a ABSL (apart from an assistant beaver scout leader)?

For me personally, after several Sony TVs the A95K is by far the best. That is watching Sky Q, Netflix, Disney+ etc. I particularly like the way it dims when it recognises that nobody is in the room. I’m too old for gaming.

Hi there.

By ABSL, I'm referring to the Auto Brightness Limiter that exists on OLED TVs to prevent image retention/burn in where the image dims on a bright scene or during very dark scenes.

The A95k definitely looks like the best TV on the market right now but just I've had such a good experience with the C1 that I don't wish to have regrets when purchasing a £2000 TV.
