How can I pair a KDX-40ZX1 screen with it's MBT-W1 Media Receiver?

I bought an old second hand Sony flat panel TV off ebay.

I thought "it's got a HDMI in, I'm going to use it as a cheap 2nd PC monitor - it will be fine".

Unfortunately it won't work at all until it connects wirelessly to a Media Receiver (model MBT-W1).

The Media Receiver wasn't sold with the TV but I've managed to source one (exact same model) from another ebay seller.

Anyway, I can't get the screen and the receiver to recognise each other. I've been through all the options in the Service Menu and I think the problem comes when "PAIRING" (syncing) them using W-INFO.

The screen asks me to Set the Receiver to pairing mode but I don't know what to press on the Receiver box to make this happen.

Hi gingeMCR,

You have to quickly press and hold the OK button for about 5 seconds on the media receiver.

W-INFO Pairing

  1. Enter the “Monitor Service Menu” and scroll down to “W-INFO”.
  2. Press OK.
  3. Quickly press the OK button on the “Media Receiver” for about 5 seconds.
  4. To confirm pairing, switch off the “Media Receiver” via the power button and both the “Media Receiver” and “Monitor” should turn off.

Cheers

Peter

Hi Peter.

Yes I saw that in the service manual too.  The problem is that there is no "OK Button" on the Media Reciver.  Do you know which button it means?  (I tried them all already.)

The photo below shows the buttons that are on the Media Receiver.

It's the 2nd button from the left, denoted as 9 on page 21 of the Manual.
