Wrong DVD Drive VGN-FE41M?

When I enter the drivers and updates for my VGN-FE41M I can see there is an update for my DVD drive. But I cannot install it, it says "Target is not found".

The update I want to install is:
Pioneer DVD SuperMulti Drive DVR-K16VAD Firmware Update 1.10_07/09/07 1.42 MB 14/11/2007

When I enter the system on my control panel it says under DVD/CD drives:

MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-850S ATA Device

Where is the problem? Are VAIO update giving me wrong drivers or do I have wrong drivers installed? How to check what brand my dvd drive really is?

/Jimmy

Hi Jimmy,

welcome to Club Vaio..

Sony tend to use more than 1 model DVD/CD drive when producing Vaio's, for example if you look at the firmware updates for the FE31B you will notice that there are both Matshita and Pioneer listed..

As there is not a firmware update listed for your Matshita drive, it just means that Sony have not released one..

If it states in Device manager that you have a MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-850S ATA Device, then I would not try to install the Pioneer DVD SuperMulti Drive DVR-K16VAD Firmware Update..
