Where can I get the Recovery CDs for my FS 215 B

Hi friends,

Im new here, and just bought my Vaio

I bought from a friend of mine and he lost all the CDs or DVDs that came with the notebook.

So, Where can I get or download the recovery CDs?

HI Vader hope this link is of help to you, its based on the Sony VAIO FS115B but the proceedure is the same...

http://web.uk.ask.com/redir?u=http%3a%2f%2ftm.uk.ask.com%2fr%3ft%3dan%26s%3dau%26uid%3d23eff200b3eff...

i know the link looks a bit WOW but the info is there..

Thanks too!!

But My problem isn't how to use the HDDR or Recovery Tool.

My problem is that my computer dont have the program "Vaio Recovery TOOL."

I click in the start > all programs > ???? (there isnt anything called vaio ....)

I need to know how to verify if my vaio has HDDR wihtout the common tutorial.
Maybe using the DOS or using a specific program .

If your Vaio still has the HDDR then it can be accessed by pressing F10 repeatedly at boot – this will hopefully take you to the recovery utility.

Thanks Rich !!!

Now we have an answer that will be very helpfull for everyone.

I tried and entered in "Vaio Recovery Utility". Sweet like honey!!!

But now , I new question: How can I burn the CDs?

I ask this because, once in Vaio Recovery Utility after pressed F10 , all the steps are to do the Recovery.

We dont have the option "Burn the recovery in CDs/DVDs".

I went until the window that tells about the recovery for your Unit C or All the Computer. I stopped in that window and I don't press anything else.

Congratulations Rich912 !! You`re The Man!!
May the force be with you!

As far as I am aware you will need to carry out a system recovery from the HDDR before the Recovery Wizard is available. You will then be able to burn your recovery media.

But using the F10 and doing the Recovery , Will I have the ability to using HDDR yet? Or after the Recovery, I will lose the partition HDDR?

Thanks again.

No, you will not lose the recovery partition. In order to delete the recovery partition you need to carry out an ‘advanced recovery’ using the Recovery Wizard and this is not advised unless you are critically short of space on the hard drive and have also created a number of copies of your recovery cd’s.
Carry out the system recovery by pressing F10 at boot (remember that you will lose all data on the C drive) and then run the Recovery Wizard to create your CD’s.

Rich,
One last question that could be help a lot of users:

After the recovery, we can install another type of Windows?
The original that came with my FS215 B is XP Home Edition SP2 in English. But I have a XP Professional in Brazilian Portuguese SP2. Can I install that one or this will cause some troubles for me? Because of the drives I mean...

Have a look here.
You may need to visit Sony Europe for the drivers, depending on the origins of your model.

Man,

Great link !!! Great Tutorial!!

I hope can help you someday!

My Vaio is UK. And Im Brazilian. So I will try to use a Brazilian Windows XP Professional.

I'm only trying to know if another language will damage my Laptop or the HDDR.

Im afraid that the recovery kits dont work with another language.
