Hi
I installed vista (ultimate) on my AR21S, now my webcam doesn't work. I found a thread about this, but nothing works so far. And the search feature of this board doesn't seem to work for me
What I did:
1. manually installed the old xp-drivers from the preinstalled drivers package.
2. installed VAIO Camera Utility 2.0.00.11140
3. (since the above didn't work), installed VAIO Camera Capture Utility 2.2.01.04100
After installing the Camera Utility in step 2, nothing comes in the start menu. The installation stops suddenly without telling something. But in program files/sony everything is installed, and when I run VCUSet.exe, I get a sony dialog box "An unknown error occured... will now close". VCUServe.exe doesn't do anything.
And when installing the Camera Capture Utility in step 3, again sudden installation stop, but here nothing comes in program files/sony.
Live messenger shows a disturbing black screen.
Any help please? I want my webcam!! A face as beautiful as mine really needs to be shared... Thanks in advance.
I 've got the same problem with my AR21S on vista home premium. Ever since I upgrated it didn't work. The drivers on the cd are useless and I can't find them online.
The remote contole also doesn't work.
Same problem with my 21S also. Have sent tech a message to such effect, but am being diverted to the large thread about a working fix for the problem. Still doesn't work though.
I also asked for support, but sony told it only gives support for the preinstalled os, which is windows xp on the ar21s...
My problem is solved!
Apparently it always worked, only msn used the wrong device...
So what i have done:
Clean install from windows vista ultimate, installed the original xp drivers for the vcc2, the vaio webcam utility 1.0.00.12270 (that never opens but it doesn't matter) and all other vaio utilities. And also the vista hotfix that's posted here many times on the board. And in msn, i did the audio and video configuration, and there I needed to select the correct device ('sony visual communication camera vgp-vcc2' instead of 'avermedia bda analog capture' that was the default here).
Hope this helps!
