Vista User Folders

Dear all,

I made a partition for "my documents".. So I moved all folders from C:\Users\.. to F:\

Now I have a problem. I have both a folder "Contacts" and "Contactpersonen" (I am dutch).. The folder "Contacts" is a path to C:\Users and therefore not directly located in F:\.

The weird thing is, I do not have the rights to delete this folder, nor in C:\Users neither in F:\. I am the only user of this laptop, so no other users or administrators are defined.

So question 1: How can I delete this folder (the security settings didn't solve the problem until now).

Question 2: If I want to add a folder to F:\, this will always be a path to C:\Users. Is there a way to add a folder directly to the "my documents" partition F:\?

Any help would be much appriciated!

Regards, Jan-Martin

Hi Jan-Martin

Does running a system restore remove the folders from F..?

From Microsoft..

You can easily change the default location of where documents are saved from within Windows Vista. For example, you can now change the location of Documents. The new Locations tab on the properties page for Documents allows you to move the location. You can, optionally, rename the new target folder to Documents and move the existing contents of the default Documents folder. The default Pictures and Music folders can also be moved in the same manner.

The steps to move the default location of these system files are as follows

1.Right-click the Documents (or Pictures or Music) folder on the Start menu.

2.Select the Location tab.

3.Select Move.

4.Browse or create a new default folder location.

5.Optionally, move any existing contents from the old location to the new location.

Thalamus, thank you for your reply.

The step-by-step guide is the way I moved the folder from C:\Users to F:\. This went well at that time. But in a way, I do have two Contact folders now (in two languages).. It cannot be removed due to the fact that the security doesn't allow me.

I tried to give myself more rights, but I do have all rights already. Nonetheless, Vista does not allow me to delete it.

Then the other thing is, new folder cannot be added to F:\, because if I do that, it will only be a path to C:\Users.

system restore didn't help. that's not suprising, because i really moved the folders and this has nothing to do with other settings. I have no idea how to solve this problem. It is very annoying! 😞
