Vista & sleep FE31Z

Hi. Is there anybody out there who is having problems with the sleep function on their vaio?
I have the FE31Z and when i had windows MCE installed i could push the sleep button and it would switch off pretty swiftly... if i switched it back on it would come bak up bloody fast too (almost like you blink and you miss it)
Now since vista is installed it goes to sleep fine however it takes much longer to start back up, it stays on a black screen for a little while then eventually pops up.
I know it's not a major problem but it is frustrating when you spend quite a bit of money on a decent laptop and it states it is vista capable and it causes stupid little problems like this... prob would be quicker for me to keep shuttin the damn thing down instead of sleeping? Surely that will use more battery power to keep shutting down and restarting?
