VGN FW11E RAM upgrade issue

I am upgrading my vaio RAM from 2GB to 4GB , When I put in the second  2GB RAM in second slot and turn laptop on , the screen is black ,  pressing F2 to go into Bios does nothing.

When I remove the new RAM it works with 2GB,

Here is the situation

I have 2GB x 2 RAMs( Cruicial )Same brand same specs

Slot A  --------------- Slot B  ------------   Works ?

2GB(stick1)  ----   Empty   ---------------Yes

2GB (stick1) -----  2GB (stick2) --------No (Black Screen + No vaio logo, cant go to BIOS)

Empty  -------------  2GB(stick2) ---------No (Black Screen + No vaio logo, cant go to BIOS)

Empty  -------------  2GB(stick1) ---------No (Black Screen + No vaio logo, cant go to BIOS)

2GB(stick2)  ----   Empty   ---------------Yes

I can not understand what's wrong here .

both Sticks work independently in Slot A.

Hi xs2ahmed,

from your comments if the RAM is not working when placed in slot B then I would guess that slot B may be faulty..:smileysad:

You could see if a local PC repair specislaist to check this for you..

If you do not know of a local repair specialist then you could if you wish contact one of Sony's authorised repairers..

To find contact details..

Open Vaio support, either by clicking Support at the top of this page or use the following link:Vaio support

Under Log-in option 1: Enter your vaio models serial number, which you should find on the bottom of your Vaio.

Then click Log-In

Once logged select Get In Touch

Then Click on the Out of Warranty tab to locate the nearest location.
