Hi All
I have purchased a Vaio VGN-FJ1Z/W second user and am delighted with it.
The previous owner had reloaded Windows XP, but appears to have not used the Vaio Recovery to do so.
I believe the recovery parition may still be intact.
The 80 Gig hardive is reporting itself as 67.6Gig in XP, so about 10 Gig is hidden beyond the losses due to formatting etc.
Because the reinstall was a simple reload of XP, the Sony Recovery Ultility is no longer available to access this hidden partition.
Can anyone tell me if there is anyway to obtain the Vaio Recovery Utility itself?
I am given to understand this model of Vaio does not come with any recovery cd, so the hardrive recovery partition is the only method by which recovery may be made.
Thank you.
Den
Hi Den
Welcome to Club Vaio,
If the recovery partition has not been deleted you could try pressing F10 repeatedly when starting you vaio, this normally would start the recovery process..
If that does not work then unfortunately you will have to contact Vaio-Link to purchase a new set of recovery DVD's..:smileysad:
Hi Thalamus
Thank you for your suggestions, I will reboot and try the first one right away
Regards.
Den
Hope the recovery works..
Hi Thalamus
The F10 idea worked perfectly, I now have a fully recovered Vaio!
Thank you so much for your help
Regards and best wishes for the New Year.
Den.
You're welcome Den..
If you have not done so already, now may be good time to create a couple Recovery disc sets ..
Best wishes for the new year to you too..
