VGC-V3M Model number not recognised by Recovery Tool

Everytime I run the recovery tools - both from the partition and from the DVD, its runs and says can not run as the model number is incorrect. Its a Sony VGC-V3M machine. Any know how and where I can make changes that will allow the recovery utility to run?
