VGC-RC102

:smileyblush: I have a new RC102 desktop and the hard drive is really noisy... is this standards.

Also, and speakers or headphones used on the machine pulsate loudly.

Finally... as part of the warranty, do Sony come out and fix the machine?

Any help would be greatly appreciated... dealer (Mcro Anvika, don't know anything!!!!!).

That doesn't sound right, I would have a word with VAIO Link tomorrow.

They don't fix them at home unless you're a business customer. They pick it up and fix it at your local Sony repair centre

Hi neilleitch.

have just bought the same computer and have the same problem with the noisy hard drive. I have no solutions but was wondering whether you managed to sort anything out with yours or whether its been put down to being normal?

Thanks

Hmmm, it would surprise me if these HDD's are making more noise as other ones.. could be off cource, but you have to bare in mind that the RA and RC PC's are completely noisless units, therefor the only sound you do hear is coming from the HDD's when the unit is swithced on.
Tried to preform a scandisk and defrag already? Especially Defragmentation should lower the amount of head moves in the HDD which results in lesser sound.

Thanks

I think there must be a fault with a batch of these hard drives as this is the second one I have tried in the space of a week and they were both extremely noisy. However I returned the computer yesterday and reluctantly decided to try a new one again. Thankfully this one is what I expect from a sony PC - nice and quiet and a pleasure to use!! Shame it took me 3 visits to the store to get there!!!!!!!!
