Vaio T2XP/L - DVD Player

Hi

I bought my T2XP/L from a Sony Centre a couple of weeks back. Very pleased with it. But was told by salesman that I could use the DVD player without booting into the Wndows OS. This would be great to do to stop the kids messing with the system yet still be abale to watch movies. However after much button pressing I cannot find any way to kick off a DVD without starting windows.

Is there any way to do this or was the salesman wrong?

Thanks

You need to boot the computer to view a DVD.

I think the salesman was either confused or cheated you.

The new VGN-TX models have indeed what is called an "instant on" function. A (linux based?) partition will boot the VAIO into a nice minimal environment in a few seconds. There you can watch DVD/Divx , play music, read pics from a memory stick etc.

Maybe you can still return it (claiming wrong info lead you to the purchase) and get a TX instead
