Vaio PCG-K215B Specs

Is it just me, or is my Vaio without a microphone and an IR connection?

I thought those things were basic now.

It has neither. You actually have the base model of the K-series so it wouldn't have many trimmings, but none of the K-series have these things. No infrared might be a bit of an inconvenience but microphones are really very cheap.

No VAIO has IR either.

IR ports are a bit like serial ports - they are classed as legacy devices.

Legacy as dying off to newer forms of communication.

Thanks guys.

I just thought it was really weird, as my old Packard Bell laptop bought 4 years ago had a microphone. It is kind of neat when you are on the move.

As for the IR, I'd rather have that than a Memory Stick reader. Or bluetooth. Or am I asking for too much?

The Memory Stick reader is very handy and bluetooth is very handy for GPRS internet and accessing your PDA (not that I have bluetooth or a PDA.)

It's like everything else really, it's handy if you need it and useless if you don't.

IR would be useless to me...

I think unless you want to use a remote control it's a bit dated for anyone.
