does anyone know if a can upgrade my cdrw/dvd rom drive on a pcg-k115b vaio to a cd&dvd writer? any help would be grateful.

Sorry, my friend - no chance.
There is no spare part availiable for the K-series. At least no DVD-writer. Only chance is to sell your current machine and buy e.g. K115M, K115Z or K115S.

If you keen on widescreen models you can even consider the new K200-series, which offers 16:10 screens.
