Vaio camera driver causing system instability

Moving on from my last thread (which is still unresolved, I'm running XP MCE which is still begging me to be activated), I'm re-installing all the drivers using the downloadable driver pack from the Vaio support site. (Strange how they don't offer individual driver downloads)

So anyway, all the drivers are fine except for the Vaio "Motion Eye" camera driver (\Camera\VGP-VCC1). When installed the system is prevented from shutting down nor entering standby, all other operations seem fine.

Is anyone else having this trouble and can they recommend ways of mitigation?

Hi W3bbo,

You don't say what Vaio you have but there is a known problem on some models with the Motion Eye driver. Seems everyone is waiting for Sony to issue an updated driver.

Until then, the only answer is to disable the camera.

Many thanks.

(BTW, my Vaio is the FE11M)

I followed the suggestions in the thread you posted (unchecking the "Turn off this device to save power" box), but that doesn't solve the problem.
