Upgrading my VAIO DVD writer!

Hi there, I own a VAIO A117s which came with a single layer DVD writer.
Does anyone know if i can ask Sony to upgrade my drive to a dual layer DVD writer?? Do they accept requests like that?

Whom should i contact ? (except e-support since that's for troubleshooting mainly)

Sony won't supply an upgrade. The only way you would be able to do this is to find a drive that has the same form factor and either fit it yourself or get a notebook engineer to do it for you.

Either option will invalidate your warranty and it could prove difficult finding a suitable drive.

If i were you, i wouldnt bother, Dual Layer discs are so expensive that having a dual layer drive is pointless.

I've learnt this, but I am not bitter as it's going to get cheaper in the future.
