TV Tuner

Hi - I have a VGC V2S desk top and have been struggling to get the TV tuner to work recently. It used to fire up at the touch of a button but now eports with a message saying Tuner not connected.

The TY ariel is connected and provides an excellent picture via a standard TV.Any ideas?

Hi David and welcome to Club Vaio.

Have a look in Device Manager - does it show the TV card installed correctly?

Start -> Right-click 'My Computer' -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager

Expand the branch for 'Sound Video and Game Controllers'
Have you got the Sony 'MPEG RealTime Encoder Board' visible?
Double-click on it - is it shown as being installed correctly or does it show errors?

If it is OK then you may have to reinstall Vaio Zone. If it has an error or is not shown, come back and we will look at it again.

Many thanks for your response and clear guidance. As a novice the simpler the instructions the better and yours were spot on. Sony 'MPEG RealTime Encoder Board' is not visible. I assume that this could be part or all of the problem. Is there a straight forward solution to resolve?
