To start my VAIO VPC Z series when it is connected to an active network with a cable, it takes about 4 s from submission of the logon credetials to bringing up the desktop, plus another 20-25 s to load the start-up applications. When, however, the network cable is unpluged, and the wireless LAN and WAN options are swithced off, it takes exactly 34 s to bring up the desktop. Apparently, the laptop is searching for a network for exactly 30 s before giving up. My question: can this time be customised or set to zero?
