My Sony VAIO has been working okay, but since last reboot it kept going into BIOS (Main), tried setting the correct date and time but still goes to BIOS when restarted. Battery is end of life running on AC. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Hi ali_chowdhury and welcome.
This usually happens when the boot file cannot find the operating system. Which version of Windows are you running?
I assume you haven't made any hardware changes or damaged the Vaio? No recent changes to the bootloader?
Check that the hard drive has not failed. In the BIOS, check that the hard disc drive is recognised. It should be set with the CD/DVD drive as the first boot device and HDD as the second.
Do you have a Windows disc? If so, you could try to boot from this and run a recovery.
Is the date and time wrong every time? If so, it is likely that the CMOS battery needs replacing as this keeps the memory while the Vaio is turned off.
Thanks very much for your reply.
Running Windows 7, disk is recognised in Bios. Started fine shortly before the problem encountered after reboot (changed computer name in Windows). Don't get to boot from CD/DVD as it repeatedly goes into Bios, date/time corrected. When select save config and restart it goes back to BIOS.
Any other suggestions?
Kind regards
