Simple memory upgrade question

I have the following machine:

SONY PCV-RS402

From what I can tell by looking at the outer casing it appears to have 400Mhz DIMM DDR RAM inside.

Ive just been to PCWorld and purchased a stick of DDR RAM with following spec:

512MB DDR PC3200
184 PIN 400Mhz DIMM

Simple question - Will this be ok for my PC?512MB DDR PC3200 184 PIN 400Mhz DIMM

That should be fine as long as u got the right size memory 184pin which the rs series uses u will be fine any 3200 400mhz memory will wrk but sony have locked to bios advanced setting so u cant change the timings of the memory!!! hope this helps!

Cheers buddy.

When U say locked to BIOS settings and memory timings what do you mean?

Am I correct in understanding that I would not be able to use something like say for example PC2700 memory or anything higher than PC3200 memory???

Cheers in advance.

all this basically means if you wanted to overclock ur memory to (make it faster) u would use different memory timings sony are locked to use standard timings but ur memory will be fine the way it it.....
u can use 2700 as long as its 184 pin dimms but they are slower....ur system being p4 system i would stick to 3200 memory!!!!
