screen problems on PCG-FX201

Hi,
i wonder if anyone can help me here as ive tried everything i can think of to resolve this!
The screen on my Vaio has become very tempermental in the fact that it darkens and i can just make out the screen ! So i have to use an external montor. I have tried the troubleshoot on the help system here but to no avil. The screen on my Vaio will burst into life and wrk all day then when i switch off and then switch oin again it darkens. Please if anyoine can help i will be very grateful!!!!
