Replacement motherboard for FS285

I have a vaio vgn fs285 laptop, which has just run out of its 1 year warranty. Typically, the motherboard (or more specifically the nvidia graphics adaptor on the motherboard) has given up on me in quite spectacular fashion. I have run some pretty thorough tests to make sure it's not the screen, processor, RAM, and hard disk. I'm faced with either selling off all the working components on ebay, or replacing the motherboard.

Does anybody (at Sony or otherwise) know if I can get hold of a new or used motherboard that will fit my case and other components please? It doesn't have to be the same model, as long a it fits the previous criteria! Please include prices. I'm happy to fit it myself.

A motherboard will cost you approx. $450 plus shipping

Have a look at Nexttronics as you are unlikely to source this in the EU.

Thanks for that. A little more than I was expecting I have to admit. Once shipping and import duty are paid then that's almost as much as a new laptop!

Surely there is a Sony UK repair centre that has some used spares floating round somewhere!? Anyone know where I can contact them?
