Remote Controller problems after downgrade from vista!

Hi,

i know is a notebook forum but i must try.

my problem is the following. VGC-LA3 desktop after downgrading from Vista to Xp I can't watch Tv in vaio zone and my remote controller doesn't work either. Please somebody explain which programs or drivers i need. It was a bit of a challenge to find the xp drivers for this vista based computer. I managged well so far but know i stuck with these. Many many thanks!

Hi Chris,

Have you downgraded to XP Pro or XP Media Centre Edition?

Your TV Card will not work with XP Pro and Vaio Zone - it will need XP MCE or AverMedia's stand alone software for the TV Card.

Likewise, I doubt if the Media Centre Remote supplied with your LA3 will work in Vaio Zone either - this will need XP MCE. A Media Centre PC like the LA3 is not designed to run with XP Pro.

I haven't looked, but I would expect all the Drivers and Utilities for your model to run on XP to be in the Original Drivers Package and the Original Utilities Package for the VGC-LA1 - these are downloadable here: -

Hello,

thanks for the quick reply. So i downgraded to Xp Pro. I've got all the Xp drivers, everything working ok, but there is one unknown thing in the device manager called "eHome infrared transceiver" (I presume it is the remote controller). I haven't got any drivers for that. The remote i've got is a SONY RM-MCE20E not USB. So you think if i install WinXp Media Ceter edition everyhing will work? Can i use my Xp pro drivers in MCE? How can i watch TV in VAIO Zone? When i click on the TV icon in the upper left hand corner, vaio zone starts with an error message in the bottom left hand corner saying "cannot find previously played content". The only way to watch TV is SageTV. It work fine but no remote. Any ideas? Sorry about the loads of questions. Many thanks again!
