do you know how can I activate Remote Desctop connection, for my windows vista?because I can not connect to my laptop by remote connection from another computer. In windows XP, when you right click on themy computer in the part 'remote' you can select the box related to remote connection, but in windows vista, it's not available. does anybody know how can I activate that?

Hi sjafargholi and welcome to the forum.

You may need to install Remote Desktop Connection (Terminal Services Client 6.0) on the XP machine.

If this has no effect then can I recommend CrossLoop – a free program that I use for both LAN and WAN remote desktop access?

Thank you for the answer,
but I have a question. my OS is windows vista, but the Remote Desktop Connection (Terminal Services Client 6.0) is for windows XP. Does it work on vista? my problem is when I want to connect from another computer to my laptop (by remote desktop connection, an error appears and I can not connect.
I didn't try the 2 ways you mentioned, because there are 4 choices, which one should I select for Vista?

1- Download the Terminal Services Client 6.0 update for Windows Server 2003 (KB925876) package now. (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=CC148041-577F-4201-B62C-D71ADC98ADB1)

2-Download the Terminal Services Client 6.0 update for Windows Server 2003, x64-based versions (KB925876) package now. (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=43C0EAE9-6B64-428F-A9DC-F97F5A1B4493)

3-Download the Terminal Services Client 6.0 update for Windows XP (KB925876) package now. (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=26F11F0C-0D18-4306-ABCF-D4F18C8F5DF9)

Hi sjafargholi,

Assuming that you are running XP on a 32bit system (almost certainly) it will be option 3. This is installed on the XP machine.

That said have you actually enabled Remote Desktop on the Vista machine? Have a look at this link and scroll down to 'Windows Vista Remote Desktop' for further guidance.

Hi,
I tried to install the choice 3, but during the installation there was an error that "you don't have enogh staorage to continue the command" and didn't install on my computer.
Regarding to the last link you sent to me what I understood is that I don't have the second part in the Remote Connection (it just has the remote assistance connection, not the remote desktop connection. may be because my windows is home edition not ultimate one)
so is there any way without upgrading to the Ultimate vista, use this feature?

That may very well be the reason. Try Crossloop (see link above). This works on my Vista Home Premium system...
