Recovery discs

Hi all.

I have a sony vaio and i have recovery discs but:

my vaio is made for germany and i'm not very familiar with their language

i'm wondering could i use recovery discs from other vaio. One friend of mine have the same model like i do but his is english version. Could i use his discs coz it's the same hw inside

If i can how can i update my recovery partition and put new images there.
