Hi! I have VGN-A197VP. I try to solve an ancient problem - the cd-dvd player has never worked well. It does not record, it does not show movies but it plays the sounds. I have done all the updates except Firmware Update for Matshita UJ-820D and SonicStage Mastering studio updates. Studio updates do not install bcause Kernell.exe cannot be installed. ??? I have two questions:
1) At the beginning of Matshita update there is the following message: Installation procedure for firmware update for 'MATSHITA','UJ-820D' optical drive. Please check if your VAIO is using the 'MATSHITA','UJ-820D'. How to do that? Long ago I thought this update was for CD-DVD player and according to device information the driver is Sony DW-U55A, so I did not do it. Now I am wondering if I made a mistake.
2) Could someone try to explain why Kernell.exe cannot be installed?
