problem with fr415s battery life

hi, i got my fr415s about a month ago, since having it i cant seem to get my battery to last that long at all, if my battery will only last up to an hour, can anyone tell me how to lengthen this? ive discharged it fully a couple of times and tht but it doesnt seem to help, ive read in a previous post to change the screen brightness will this help? also how do u change your screen brightness? im new to both xp and laptops, please help me someone because my main function for my laptop will be 4 hour train journeys

fact is:
The Notebook FR415S is a Desktop Replacement Notebook.
But the Batterytime given by sony is probably at around 1h45m.
my batterytime is given by sony at around 1h30m... if i am lucky i get
around 1h05m per battery charge.

fact is:
we all new that before we bought the notebooks... right.....RIGHT!

fact is:
even the highly advertised centrino's with up to 5hours of batterytime only gives you around 2h30m - 3h

Yep - Joe's right, you should check specs and discuss them here before buying, it's the best policy.

fair enough but remember im completely new to the laptops scene and didnt even know this forum existed, but yeh was foolish of me really but hey i wil live with it, also that programme power panel, where can i download the latest version from? i downloaded a really old version which said it was made in like 1996, i duno wot happend but i think it screwed my laptop keyboard up as my keys was not working properly and had to restore my system

ok no need for power pannel i changed the brightness of my screen and its greatly helped me im at 78% of my batter power and its been on for like 20 mins thx for the help people,
