Problem imaging C:/ using Acronis TrueImage ......

Hi folks - can anyone tell me if they have come across this problem which has got me puzzled::

For years I've been imaging partitions using Acronis TrueImage and its never let me down - until I tried it on m y new Vaio A417M laptop..!!.

Having reconfigured the factory default programs to those which I prefer to keep and then added a few progs of my own I decided to install TrueImage and take an image C:/ and store it on D:/ with a view to burning the images to CD later.

Before burning I thought I ought to check I could access the image files by running TrueImage under Windows and selecting to restore an image, The prog went through the usual procedure of asking me to reboot and upon reboot came up with the normal TrueImage loader screen where I then tried to browse to the image file.
On trying this to my surprise up popped a screen error message saying that Trueimage couldnt find any drives on my computer!!

I've tried this a couple of times, even going back to the factory default installation without any tweaks on my part and keep running into the same problem.

I wonder if Sony's 'hidden' recovery partition is screwing Trueimage up....... or maybe the fact that my optical drive has a problem reading CDRs is a factor - whatever......

Can anyone throw some light onto this prob with answers to the following questions:

- has anyone got experience of this problem and come up with an answer
- can anyone confirm TrueImage works for them?
- if TrueImage has a problem can anyone recommend any other imaging software which they know works?

PS Im using version 7.613b of TrueImage

Thanks
Jim

I have used TrueImage before.

I will be back tomorrow once I receive some much needed sleep, partying hard can take its toll!:smileylaugh:

Hi James - i guess being a party animal has its price - hehehe!

Good news is after seeing your reply I got hold of a copy of Acronis TrueImage Corporate Workstation v8 and that is now working ok.

Still puzzled why my previous version doesnt work but at least I can now image again. Now if I could only burn a new Acronis recovery CD with my faulty DR56A
Guess I'll have to borrow someones office PC for that little job - LOL!

Enjoy the hangover m8 and thanks for the reply

Jim

Hi Jim

Sounds like the hidden partition by Sony is playing up with TI - as your DVD is bust I'd suggest getting that sorted but when it comes home, make two copies of this recovery set then ditch the partition and see if that works
