powerpoint and 'fenetres' :)

Hi,

I just moved my documents from the old desktop on the new vaio notebook, and I had a little surprise: I can't find any pre-installed application able to open a .ppt document. Doesn't really Microsoft Works 7.0 (French version) have this feature?

And one more question: is there a way that I could get an installation DVD in the English version? French is not very suitable for Windows...

Thanks,
Cris

You need Microsoft Powerpoint to open a ppt document. If all you want to do is view the file then you could try Powerpoint viewer from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=D1649C22-B51F-4910-93FC-4CF2832D3342&displa...

Thanks for your quick answer. I wanted to make sure that Works 7.0 doesn't have this - I'm not used to it yet, and I saw it can manage word, excel and access applications (so why not powerpoint?)
About my second question, I just saw the problem was already raised on the forum and there is no solution for it: Sony doesn't provide its customers with a recovery CD in the native language of Windows. Now that's a bit strange...

LOL I left France in 1985, so I have never experienced Windows in Francais

As for PowerPoint, do you have MS Office? If it's a retail copy you're allowed to install it on 2 machines.

Works will open .xls (Excel) files but you will not have the same functionality as with Excel.

Interestingly, Excel will not open Works files

I'd go with Kee-Lo on this - if you are going to be using Excel, Powerpoint etc I'd definitely recommend getting MS Office, if you haven't already. BTW Office XP is significantly better than 2000
