Having gone to some trouble to losslessly rip all my CDs into WMP, I was disappointed to find my "posh" digital to analogue converter was locking at 48kHz sampling rate. CDs are 44.1kHz, and so the 48kHz output means that the PC is sample rate converting, so the original bits are not being feb to the optical output. Sample rate conversions are not always done well so I would like to get my system to change to the same sample rate as the original media. Having done some reading, the AC97 system is capable of variable sample rates if it is 2.x onwards. Does anyone know how to set this?
