My laptop recently needed to be re installed.
On boot up the display is about two inches bigger than the screen.
I have to re install the dispaly driver, re boot and all is fine untill the next time.
I have a FX 804 with on board ATI graphics chip.
My device manager has it as a Mobilty M1. Driver version 6.13.10.5796 Dated 16/06/2002.

Hi Rick,
If by this you mean that in order to view the peripherals of the screen it is necessary to move the mouse to the left or right border then the resolution is set incorrectly.
Right click any blank area of the desktop and select properties > on the Settings tab move the slider bar (screen resolution) to the left by one increment and then click apply. If this does not correct the problem then repeat the procedure and reduce the resolution by a further increment.
I think that the recommended resolution for your model should be 1024x768
