Hi - wonder if anyone can help me.
The Wireless Lan device on my new TX2 is not being recognised by XP (not showing in device manager).
The wirelesss Lan light does not come on either when the wireless switch is set to on (only the bluetooth indicator lights up).
Have tried the following:
Re-installed drivers.
Complete system restore.
The laptop has also gone to Sony twice for a motherboard replacement and to fix it from not booting up. It has just come back to me this morning and it now appears the wireless lan isn't working. (Perhaps the unit is damaged more than sony thought?)
Is there anything else I could try before sending it back to Sony again ?
Any help much appriciated.
Sorry if this sounds sarcastic, but did you switch the wireless switch from bluetooth to wireless?
Not sarcastic at all - always worth checking the obvious
If you're talking about a hardware switch - I only know of the one on the front - it switches to either wireless on or wireless off. Is there another one?
I can't actually run the lan switcher software program (double click icon - no response - software doesn't even open) which leads me to think it is a hardware problem.
Yeah that's the switch
Have you reinstalled the wireless switch utility?
Hi iw-man,
Welcome to Club Vaio,
Have you also checked in Network Connections that the wireless connection is enabled?
Kee-Lo,
Tried reinstalling the switch setting utility but no luck - the program still fails to load. I get a brief change in the mouse pointer to an hourglass but then nothing.
Thalamus,
The wireless network connection unfortunately doesn't appear in network connections so I am unable to enable it.
Thank you both for your help, I think its time for it to go back to Sony for the third time
Its as if the machine doesn't recognise the inbuilt wireless adaptor.
Such a shame as this really is a beautiful machine!
iw-man.
It is because of webroot spy sweeper, I think. I didn't find any solution for this time.
