I spend best part of £800 and don't even get a set of start up discs!
How do I burn a copy ?
I too have recently purchased a Vaio laptop that does not come with recovery CD or hard copy of Vista. There is just the recovery partition which i cant access.
Is it possible to extract data from the recovery partition and create a backup?
Hi Scouser1968 and gurj01.
Welcome to Club Vaio.
Unfortunately, most computers come without installation discs these days. A full recovery set of Vista and all the preinstalled applications is held on a hidden Recovery Partition on your hard disc.
It is always sensible to make a set of Recovery Discs. There are some operations you can only do with the Recovery Discs (like remove the Recovery Partition) and they are also handy if you have a hard drive failure.
To make a set of discs (I would make at least two sets) look at Page 16 of your Troubleshooting and Recovery Guide. You can download it from here: -
