My Club Vaio - what's it for?

I have a VGN - FE41Z with Vista; My Club Vaio appears on startup wanting to download updates.
It downloaded nearly 200 items - what are these updates, and what do they do?
On trying to install the updates, I got an error saying that I needed to be logged in as
administrator, which I was.
After this, I got a blank white window on every startup, with the taskbar label showing it was My Club Vaio that had presumably started incorrectly due to these lost updates.
I restored the system and have refused the requests to download updates.
Any advice appreciated; I have downloaded and installed the DeleteLauncherFix but it has had no effect.

Hi Dickdotcom

welcome to Club Vaio..

The start-up fix, as far as I can tell is supposed to remove MCV from the Scheduled Tasks. In doing so it would stop MY Club Vaio from auto launching every time you start your Vaio..

However you can do this manually by going to start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Scheduled Tasks..

Then dis enable the MCV entry..

To update My Club Vaio do the posts in this similar thread offer a solution..?

Thanks, I have done this - but what is the progam My Club Vaio and why does it need to update? I thought My Club Vaio was the site, not a program.
