The manuals should be on VAIO-Link or on your recovery DVD

well had a good look around and the manuals do say nothing about how to fit extra memory, so any advice from forum members would be appreciated

If you look on Vaio-Link and page 42 Of the Manual in Adobe, they both say that you should not perform a memory upgrade yourself - 1024Mb is the max.

Having no experience of a V1 myself I can only suggest that unless the whereabouts of the memory slots is apparent andf if you are confident about upgrading that you do it yourself.

For most models there are instructions, with pictures, for performing a memory upgrade so maybe the slots are not very easily accessable on a V1.

If you have any doubts don't do it.

PS normally the manual is on the hard disk with a desktop icon (when new) and can be viewed/saved from Vaio link.

I think i know where the slots are ....

at the black there is a block thing. I think u unscrew 2 screws either side where the vents are. and somehow unclip it useing those 2 clips at the back.

Im not sure so u can have a look if u like.

thanks for the replies guys

i think i'll pass on looking for the memory slots myself, i'll only end up doing something stuipd, just have to wait for that elusive forum member who may have done it!

do you reckon if i email the vaio tech people they will tell me where the memory slots are etc.?
