Laptop turning itself on???

On 2 occasions now i have discovered that my vaio has seemingly turned itself on:
first time I noticed was coming back from holiday - machine was fully charged when I left but was 100% drained when I got home. When I hooked up to power I got the "windows did not shut down properly last time" message.

Then a couple of days ago I charged it again and just turned it on to find that it popped out of hibernation.
The machine has been kept in the same laptop bag it has always been kept in.

Anyone got any ideas to account for this odd behaviour?

well at first of all i would plug out the notebook rechargeable battery. if its not powering on automatically again, i would guess its the battery. if not maybe u've got wake on lan enabled "stupid question so far"

TVTV is known to do this, as it updates it's EPG at 6am.
