I'd like to change the harddrive, but i don't know how to open the vaio to access the hdd...
open the vaio to change ram or the cpu wouldn' t be difficult but the hdd is really hidden 😞
can anyone help me?
if its the same as my Sony Vaio SZ2XP/C which I think it is... then its quite simple.
if you turn the laptop over, there are 3 screws to what would be the front of the laptop if you had it open
(the side of where the touchpad is)
There is also one screw next to the docking port which holds the keyboard down
once the 4 are out, slide the touchpad compartment towards you gently
theres a thin cable attached to the board so ensure you dont rip it otherwise there goes your touchpad
you also can lift up the keyboard too noting that there are 2 tabs under the f1/f2 key and f11 key
push them in gently with a flatbladed screw drive while lifting the keyboard
again ensure this is done gently or you willrip the keyboard cable which leaves you without a keyboard 😆
unhooking the keyboard is easy and you can push the ribbon back in. just release the two tabs on either side of the connector and pull it out, reversing it put it back in.
the touchpad does not have to be removed, you can just fold it over
then theres the drive, theres a sata cable holding it down.
the tricky part is that the sata cable is taped UNDER the drive. if you're not gentle, you'll rip it trying to remove it/the tape.
its a bit of a task but once you're in then its easy enough
I took some pictures for you but then i found this
