Hi kl_geaney and welcome.

Have you contacted Vaio Support?  They are more likely to have come across this problem as Windows 8 is so new.  We have not seen it on these forums before.

Which Vaio model do you have?

Does it have a SSD hard drive?  This error seems common with SSD firmware.

Was Windows 8 factory installed?

Do you get a Blue Screen with an Error Code before the Vaio reboots?

Are there any yellow warnings in Device Manager?

Any System Errors in Event Viewer?

Have you updated ALL the available software updates from BOTH Windows Update and from the Vaio Download website?

If your Vaio is fully up to date and the problem persists, I would return it to the seller and ask for a replacement as it is only 4 days old.  The retailer should replace it rather than send it for repair.

Here is Microsoft's explanation of this error: -
