Harddisk small clicking?

Hi all,

My harddisk has started saying some very very small clicking noice some times not very often have had the same thing with almost every laptop i've had what is the reason for this? Can defrag cause this ?

If you've had it with every laptop you have owned, and it's just a very small noise then it's probably just the ordinary noise a hard drive makes. You just don't hear it on a desktop because it isn't right up close to you.

Thats normal for a notebook hard disk.

yup. its normal. I got it every time.
with desktops you got it as well. You dont hear it because:
a. Its standing further away 9 out of 10 times
b. The fans in the desktops are making such an amount of noise that the small "clicking" can be heard

as far as I know it doesnt have anything to do with defrag. It needs to find small amounts of data, that is what you hear.

Dont worry about it.
If it is a mishap, than lots of people need to worry :tongue:
