Hard Drive Replacement Question

My HD in my PCV-RX305 is reporting imminent failure. Must I replace it with the same model (Maxtor 4D080H4 - 5400 rpm) or can I use any HD with an IDE interface?

You can use any make or size (Gb) of IDE HDD as long as the Bios and Windows supports much larger sizes.

If you have XP with SP2, I think you should be fine.

Have a look on Ebuyer.co.uk amd compare sizes for the best Gb/£. When I purchased a HDD about 12 months ago I went for 160Gb as that was the best size for the £'s.

Thanks,

I'll try a cheap 80Gb 7200rpm drive. Will let you know how I get on.
