FULL SCREEN problem while playing games

Hello,
I am the proud and happy owner of a vaio FE21M.
The only thing I can't seem to do is gaming in full screen.
When I put the display resolution to the maximum (1280x800), it is of course full screen, but on any lower resolution then my screen's full resolution (both 4:3 and 16:9), the image appears boxed. Even with the full-screen option (in the games) switched to on, it doesn't strech over the whole screen.

I already checked the Nvidia Control Panel for options concerning this matter, but found none.

Thanks for you replies,
Joren

Joren,

This is normal, as it's not zooming the image to the full screen

Some Games also are just set for certain Screen sizes, some wont play at all in wide screen, just 4:3.Always get the latest game updates as well, they can add new resolutions too.Quake 4 didnt have 16:10 origionaly, the latest update added it in plus an update for Dual Core.Latest Graphics Drivers help too.

Hmm,
I know it's quiet logic that when - for exaple - i'm playing in 800x600, it will not zoom the image to my 16:9 screen, otherwise it would be stretched horizontally.

But if I play at 16:9, in a resolution lower then my 1280x800; it should zoom to fullscreen, shouldn't it? With all the laptops I've had before, it did zoom when playing at lower resolutions...
That's what the full screen checkboxes in the games are for, no?

From the Nvidia Control Panel you go Display then change flat panel scaling and you choose: Use Nvidia Scaling.. that works for me in all games

Some Games also are just set for certain Screen sizes, some wont play at all in wide screen, just 4:3.

Example: my previous notebook had a 1024x768 LCD. When I played a game at 800x600 it would be letterboxed, but with the "full screen" checkbox in any videogame on, it would zoom to fill the whole screen.

I do understand that it probably won't fill my vaio's wide screen because of the different aspect ratio,
but when I play at -for example- 1024x600, which is a lower widescreen resolution, it should get streched with the full screen option, no??

Thanks for your replies though.

Thank you very much KyriakosP!!!

That was exactly the setting I was looking for!
I must have overlooked the flat panel options in the Nvidia Control Panel, but man, what kind of silly translation do they use. I think I'll install an english version of that when updating...

(For those who happen to speak dutch: they translated "flat panel scaling" as "platte schermschaal wijzigen".)
