Fan/Overheating Problems - Cleaning Tips??

Hey all, this is my first post.

I have a Vaio, PCG-K415S. The fan has being running quite loud recently, and also when I put my hand next to the air vents it is very warm. I downloaded MobileMeter to check my computer temperature, and its about 65 degree C. Is this high?

Also, has anyone got any cleaning tips for my laptop? Do I need to buy compressed air cans and blow them into the vents, or do I need to open the whole thing up?

I fear internal dust could be a problem, and maybe could be causing the fan to run loudly.

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

Matt

Hi matt,

welcome to Club Vaio..

Yes first try clearing the cooling vents of dust with compressed air (you should be able to get this from your local PC shop), check the instructions on the can but normally holding the can upright giving the vents a short blast from a distance of approx. 10cm should do the trick.

Note: if you hold the can to close you could damage the fan.. :slight_frown:
