Excel software keep crashing

Hi

6 weeks ago I bought a VPCCB3PIE laptop and almost as soon as I started using excel it crashes. Sometimes I can open a spreadsheet and be on it an hour with no problems but more often than not, after just a couple of minutes the EXCEL.EXE is not responding icon comes up and the screen behind becomes faded and the mouse icon turns to the blue circle. I get the option of restart the program or recover the program. Neither of these ever works and after waiting for 30 mins or so with the same screen, I get bored and turn the computer off at the power button as when excel fails, it seems to disable all the key and mouse functions as well. On turning the computer back on, I get a recovey screen which states that windows shut done unexpectedly and normally on re-start everything appears fine.

Any ideas??? It only seems to do it on excel
