Hi all - I'm trying to use Sony Vaio PCV-V1/G to burn DVD-R for playback on Sony DVD player DVP-NC615 (multi-disc). I have created video footage from DV camcorder via Sony's DVD Gate Plus (easy!), then burned one .avi file onto a Sony DVD-R 1x to 4x disc as a test. The Sony DVD player says it cannot play disc. My instruction books suggests DVD-R is OK (though it says some DVD-R cannot be played back due to disc quality or the characteristics of the recording device ...) On playback through Windows media player on the PC all is OK (though sound is very poor quality). Playback through Quicktime does not work at all (just a few seconds then it stutters and I have to "end program". I really wanted to be able to transfer DV video footage onto DVD-R. Please do you have tips for a novice using the equipment I describe. Many thanks for your help,
David
Make sure you use Ritek disks, as they're better quality.
theres a simple answer to why it wont work on your dvd drive is because it is the rong file
the reason it works in windows media playeer is because it plays the avi file on the disk rather than playing the disk as a dvd
if you tried it in a dvd player like power dvd it wouldnt work
you have to burn mpeg2 to disk or transcode your avi file before burning it to disk there are a number of programmes that will do this all for you nero being one of them
but i advise since it is your own footage edit it in premiere le then export uncompressed mpeg2 and then take it into click to dvd,
or download a demo of nero vision or express and burn it that way
regards ben
Nero is the easiest way to do it if you are new to DVD writing.
thanks Ben - what are benefits of nero over premiere and just exporting the mpeg file then click to dvd? I had a look around those programs and it seems straightforward .. I'll be doing this fairly regularly so may be it is worth the extra cost but just want to be sure ..
Nero can work alongside Premiere
thanks Kee-Lo - what will Nero give me that I cannot get from just using premiere and click to DVD?
It can make the video the correct type to burn onto a DVD.
but with premiere i can export to mpeg? just trying to understand ...
Yes you can.
You'd need to anyway
